This class is designed to provide teens with an opportunity to learn pottery hand building / sculpturing using various techniques such as: slab construction, coil pots, pinch pots, surface texture, and clay impression. Students will paint or select a glaze for their projects that they will accomplish during the session. Students will also have an opportunity to use the potter’s wheel. The projects are fun and creative. Project ideas will be offered each class, but each participant always has the opportunity to work on a project from their own imagination. This is supported and encouraged. Each student works at his/her own pace. No prior ceramics or clay experience is required. For those students continuing from previous sessions, they will be encouraged to expand on what they have learned and take projects in their own direction.
Reference materials are available for inspiration if needed. See some pictures of project samples in our Project Gallery.
